Commonly referred to as “French Vents” owing to their former classification as Ranitomeya ventrimaculatus, these Ranitomeya amazonica “French Guiana” are cute little thumbnail poison dart frogs that are easy to keep and breed. Somewhat shy, with a very quiet call, these are frogs that benefit from being in close proximity to human activity; they seem to be out and about more in the mornings, or when hungry. Ours are mainly fed Melongaster fruit flies; they also will eat Springtails and may require them for their first few weeks of life after metamorphosis.
