This is a white-veined cultivar of Silver Nerve Plant, Fittonia albivenis, which does exceptionally well here compared to any other Fittonia I’ve cultivated. The original plant was purchased without any cultivar name attached; I cannot be certain, but this is likely the “Mini White” form, but we’ll simply call it “Silver Nerve Plant”. Sold in a 2″ cup, usually 3 rooted stems. Plant size will vary depending on age post cultivation, our main image is our target minimum.
General Care Information
A tropical plant native to South America, it appreciates warmth and humidity. The growth form of this cultivar varies considerably depending on light and humidity levels. Pruning will help maintain a more bushy appearance. While often sold as a houseplant, under those conditions care is often tricky and as such, Nerve Plants are often suggested to be rather difficult. Conversely, this particular nerve plant cultivar is often a vigorous plant in dart frog vivariums. This, combined with its low price, means we think it’s ideal for beginners vivariums.
About MiniWaters Vivarium Plants
Any plant whose cultivation condition is denoted as “sanitized” has been put through MiniWater’s bleach treatment and have been held in animal-free conditions following this treatment.
