How exactly I overlooked this unusual Barb over the past several years remains a mystery to me; the Drapefin / Drape Fin Barbs, Oerichthys crenuchoides, are one of those fish I feel very lucky to be able to offer. It has a lot going for it; beyond it’s unique appearance, it’s not nippy like most of us think of with “Barbs”, it stays small, it can have impressive displays, and for a “rarer” fish, it’s surprisingly affordable.
The general recommendation is to keep this fish in the mid-70s F, in neutral to slightly acidic water that is on the softer side, with good aeration and peaceful tankmates. It is a schooling fish, so best kept in groups.
