Begonia Simple Simon is a rex-type hybrid; we see many of these offered as “vivarium plants”, but many don’t actually fair that well under these conditions. Begonia Simple Simon has flourished in high moisture, high humidity. It has the ability to get rather large if you want it to let it just grow. Coloration varies with light and age; our broodstock plant was effectively solely black and white, but the ones we grow have tons of pink and red in them! Sold in a 2″ cup, generally 3-4 leaves, but could be larger.
General Care Information
Rex-type Begonias are an interesting vivarium proposition…they like humidity, but also like excellent drainage and seem to not be fans of wet leaves (so air circulation is a big plus). At times, Begonias do not ship well and can drop leaves in different conditions. So, be sure to save any dropped or broken leaves upon arrival and attempt to propagate them in case the original plant fails – we *instantly* create “insurance frags” of any new Begonia we receive here!
