I can’t think of a more confusing Tetra at the moment. The HY511 Tetra has been at various times assigned to at least 3 different species (Hyphessobrycon bentosi, H. ornatus, H. rocaceus), and has been called the Candy Cane Tetra, Ornate Tetra, Rosy Tetra, Robert’s Tetra, Bentosi Tetra, or White Tipped Tetra. Some have suggested the HY511 Tetra is a color moprh of one of these species, while others have even proposed that in fact it’s a hybrid.
This is a good, peaceful schooler that reaches a nice size for a tetra. Small individuals aren’t generally all that impressive, but larger adults really stand out. This is one of the more expensive Tetras at the moment, but if you like what you see, they’re well worth the added expense.
