Labroides dimidiatus “Cleaner Wrasse”

If I’m selling Labroides dimidiatus, the “Cleaner Wrasse” on this website, it’s only one of two things. Either it was a special order, or it’s tank-raised / captive-conditioned (or, option #3, I somehow got a hold of captive-bred ones…it HAS happened before, so it *could* happen again!). Most likely, it’s a tank-raised or captive-conditioned specimen that’s eating, and I mean eating things like pellet foods!

On occasion, Sustainable Aquatics has had such fish available through their Sustainable Islands department, and the fish I’ve brought in have all pounded Sustainable Aquatic’s Hatchery Diet pellet feed with gusto.  This is very promising for the long term success with this fish, considering that the normal prognosis is that this is a bad fish for your aquarium and the aquarium trade. In my personal experience, keeping them in a group did not work well; they ended up killing themselves down to a compatible pair. Therefore, I’d suggest only one or two per tank; if you get them as tank-raised juveniles, the odds are good you’ll wind up with a compatible heterosexual pair, and maybe someday I’ll be talking to you, looking to buy your offspring! You never know!
