Pretty simple story here – a Wisconsin-bred domestic strain of Bumblebee Platies, Xiphophorus maculatus, domestic strain. As with any livebearer strain, there is some variation in the appearance, and since there is no “official standard” for any strain, it’s fair to say that if you’re looking for something very particular, best to ask for images. What you see here is representative of what we have to offer – I’ve noted some of the males in this line have somewhat throwback coloration showing tinges of tuxedo coloration and/or red tails. Most domesticated livebearers may have hybridization in their origins, so I make sure to note that on these listings. If I’m offering livebearers, they are typically domestically produced fish of exceptional quality. I never have health issues with my partners, and I’ve worked with my primary source for years now. Additionally, what they tend to produce is just slightly off the beaten path, which means it’s not the typical strains and types commonly available in the trade.
