The classic Pink Skunk Clownfish, Amphiprion perideraion, has long held the perhaps dubious distinction of being the “least expensive clownfish” year in, year out, back when I used to do clownfish price surveys across dozens of online vendors. Being one of the more common and inexpensive clownfish varieties, it probably doesn’t get the respect it deserves. In fact, we’ve had these on hand for months and not even bothered to list them in our online inventory!!!
These captive-bred Pink Skunk Clowns are rather “generic” in nature; we don’t have any specific provenance data (geographic origin) for these. If you’re looking for something with geographic provenance, or a little more colorful, you should consider the Fiji Sunkist Pink Skunk Clowns!
If you’re looking for a small, relatively easy-going clownfish, and want to stay on budget, a captive-bred Pink Skunk (or two) may be a great choice! Interestingly, clownfish from the skunk species-complex tend to be among the harder ones to produce, so we shouldn’t take having these as captive-bred for granted.
